Today I talked with a friend (who is a grown-up), about the magical Fairy woods where she walks her dog from time to time. She described how the woods feel late in the afternoon when the sun is low and casting an ethereal light through the branches and leaves of the Beech trees. She described the feeling of peace mingled with anticipation -that feeling that something magical might happen at any moment.
She is a calm, logical and rational adult, who has an awareness of the Fairy Magic surrounding her. Her imagination is wide awake to the possibilities offered by this natural kaleidoscope of light and leaves. She is allowing herself a moment to see beyond the mundane, day-to-day world into the Land of the Fae.
Can you allow yourself to wonder - even just for a moment - whether that butterfly which flew by your window was actually a Fairy? Are they really dandelion seeds floating on the breeze or....... By permitting yourself to have small flights of fantasy, you are opening your mind on all levels to possibilities, and by doing so you are receptive to things you might otherwise not even notice.
I often tell children about the fairy who threw a cherry at my head to make me look up. If I hadn't responded, I would have carried on walking and missed seeing the tree smothered in juicy cherries! The same principle applies to everything in life - If you are open to possibilities you are open to opportunities!
